I bought my essential oils at hobby lobby in the soap making section. They are about five dollars a bottle but I use the 40% of coupon. A bottle last a long time because it doesn't take t much to make it smell good. If you have a health food store in your area some times they will carry irt there too.

ROFLMAO!

Sorry. All I could think of when reading this was the Dad in My Big Fat Greek Wedding that swore by windex for everything! I keep envisioning him sitting at the dinner table with his elbow soaking in a bowl of Windex!

All Purpose Spray:

2T vinegar
1 tsp borax

Add to a 16 oz spray bottle and shake well. Pour in hot purified water. Add 1/4 to 1/3 cup liquid soap, veggie based (casitile soap is what i use, but a dish soap would work well also) and add 10-15 drops of essential oil for smell. I use dr. bronners castile soap in lavendar and grapefruit essentil oil. I lilke the combo!)

Disinfectant Spray:

2 cups water
1/4 cup vinegar
10-15 drops tea tree oil
10-15 drops lavendar oil

mix in 16 oz spray bottle and shake well

Have to look and see what else I have in my pile of neverending papers!!

This is my favorite thing in the world, lol. Homemade cleaners, etc. I have some things to add, and I hope I am not repeating anything.

First of all, I have been making my wipes for a while now, and found that they got moldy on the outside of the towels, so I looked online to find out what else I could use and someone told me to add 1/4 C vinegar to them. I did and there isn't really a vinegar smell, the baby oil that I use overpowers it enough. I was concerned about what the vinegar would do if the baby has a rash, so I wiped them on a scratch on my leg and there was no burning or anything. So far, no mold, either.

Also, using the baby wipe recipe as an idea, I started making my own make up remover wipes. I use 1 1/2 c of water, 2 tbsp of face wash and 2 tbsp of witch hazel and pour it over my paper towels. (I use baby oil on a cotton ball to get my eye make up off first because I wear a lot of black eyeliner.)

I also have learned to make my own essential oils because where I live, they are expensive. What you need is: 1 c Olive Oil, 1/4 oz of the herb you want to use, flowers you want to use or citrus peel you want to use.
Heat the oil and your herb of choice in a slow cooker 4-6 hours on low heat or heat it in the oven 150° for 2 hours.
Use a cheese cloth to strain the liquid.
I keep the oil in a mason jar in my pantry. (a dark glass container is best, though) and they should be kept in a cool, dark place. They can be kept up to 6 months.

I am a die hard vinegar fan. I use straight vinegar in a spray bottle to spray the shower down after the last use of the evening.

I used 50/50 Vinegar and water spray and a bristly brush to clean the upholstery in my car. Where the car seats are was stained sooooo badly from spilled juice and snacks. It came out brand new. I left the windows down for a couple hours to air it out, but the car still smelled like vinegar for a couple days. It didn't last too long, though.

Hope these help someone!

Wendy

Do you know if you can use your home made recipe for the laundry detergent as high efficiency laundry detergent? My washer calles for the high efficiency soap and the texture seems like the way your finished product comes out. The HE soap is so expensive and I would love it if I could make up a batch of my own. Thanks.... T

I made my own laundry detergent last week, and it is working GREAT! I found the recipe on The Dollar Stretcher
I grated a bar of Ivory soap, added 1 cup borax, 1 cup washing soda, and optional: 1/2 cup clorox colorsafe bleach and a little oxy booster. I made a pretty large batch of this, and I love it!
The article says it does not foam up, but not to worry. That doesn't mean it isn't working. VERY TRUE! It also said that it works great on front loaders. I would check the article before you try it if you are concerned.

Ok did not see this one but still going through the post - which are great

to keep mirrors from steaming up use shaving cream on them. Just spray some on and smear around and then wipe off.

I hear about homemade baby wipes molding. Has anyone had this problem? If so how long before they mold? As fast as I use them I dont see how this could happen.
