How do I harvest my basil. Do you dry leaves and then crush? How do I dry leaves?

found some answers:

I think I will do the cropped basil frozen in ice cubes with water. I usually make tomato sauce but I don't think I will have enough tomatos and I don't think dh wants me to buy them, although I would rather do that than buy a jar/can from the store.
I figure I could also give them to some cooking friends I have during xmas. I even have ziploc bags with the winter scenes on them. :happy dance:
I never had pesto so I might make that and try it. If I like it, I may make that and freeze it. another possible gift.

Pesto is really easy and fast to make. It freezes well in jars too.
