Toadlily (Tricyrtis hirta)

Plant Characteristics:
Height – 2 to 3 feet
Time of bloom – Mid to late Fall
Flower colors – various
Propagation - cuttings (be sure you have at least one node on your cutting)
Transplants – easily
Poison Control says: ~ not mentioned on list ~

Planting Requirements:
Soil Type - steer clear of sticky clay soils
Soil ph - acidic
Water - constant moisture
Light – partial shade
Zones – 5-9 Perennial

These fall flowers are an enchanting addition to any garden with their unusual orchidlike shape. Plant Toadlilies where you can view them close up ~ their small flowers and delicate colors will get lost from too far off. For best results in areas with harsh winters, plant in a sheltered location with plenty of mulch or compost protecting the roots. These plants are pretty low maintenance.

I haven't ~ I actually just saw them in a magazine. I don't have any place shady or moist enough for them to survive.
