I'm outside today chopping down my poppy seeds flowers and saving their seeds as well as this other pretty little flower (no idea what the name is) though it looks like a weed for a large part of the summer and I actually wasn't 100% sure it wasn't a weed until it bloomed!

Does anyone else save seed?

DH does and starts the seedlings in the little 4 and 8 packs we get from the greenhouse in the spring. Once they are hardy enough he plants them in the veggie garden or flower beds.

Do you save seeds from your veggie garden too, such as acorn squash, zucchini, etc? If so, how do you store them?

I don't have a lot of knowledge here but I do know that you cannot re-grow the seeds from any hybrid plant. And most of the seeds you buy these days are hybrids unless you get the heirlooms. I figure next year I'm going to look more towards the heirloom plants and attempt this a bit more on my own.

As for the seed that I'm saving from my flowers ... right now it is in a plastic bag that I left the top open but I will put them in a paperbag before I store them for the winter.
