Does anyone have any favorite for garlic? I was down at the Farmer's Market this morning and saw a lot different types of garlic to eat / grow. I was wondering what types you liked. They had elephant garlic, procilan, german, and several other types. I figure I'll go back next week and pick some up to plant.

I have always planted the Elephant variety because it's all I have ever found locally to get. I found out recently that you can cook the greens that grow above ground - they are called Scapes. I found info and recipes online.

The man at the Farmer's Market told me the elephant garlic was more of leek than actual garlic - or had more of a leek favor. That's probably why you can cook the tops!

I'm not sure what kind of Garlic the Scapes were grown from they were at the market. The farmer gave to me free.
