We just got done making our own crayons from crayon scraps....

I peeled all the broken crayons and we put them in a muffin tin, I wasn't sure how they would turn out, so we only did 1 layer of crayons instead of piling them in. I stuck them in the oven on 250 for 15 minutes and then into the fridge to cool them and pop them out of the tin easier....
They came out really cute! We did a red, white, and blue one, an army one (greens and browns) 2 Christmas ones, Barbie (pink, purple, white) and some mixes..the kids had fun 'designing' their own crayons and should be busy coloring for awhile!!

my friend worked in a day care that made these out of all the old crayons, she gave them away as crayon cookies. These would be good to ad to the christmas ideas!

I am *so* going to steal the crayon cookie idea and put it on the "consummable gift list" down in the simple living forum. What a great idea!

I've also seen it done with candy molds, that way you can get different shapes. The only thing is that you can't put it into the oven. You would have to melt them a different way first.

WE used to do that in my preschool classrooms...the problem was, the kids wanted to constantly break the crayons to make crayons!!! LOL

Glad you had some fun.

What a great idea!!! Crayon cookies in a little bag with a coloring book.

SO far the kids have been good about not breaking them to melt down Christy, but I didn't think of that!
