I have heard people talking about using vinegar as fabric softner and was thinking of giving it a try. How much do you use in a rinse cycle? Does it really make your clothes soft? Does is reck the colors of your clothes any?

I use it in towels and things that can't take fabric softener. I love it and I use about 2/3 cup of white vinegar. I buy a 2 pack of it at Costco for $3. It's never done anything to colors, in fact, I'd read somewhere that vinegar actually sets colors.

I've been using it for quite awhile now, I typically use an equal amount to what I would have used of fabric softner, give or take. I haven't noticed any difference in terms of my clothes being faded or anything, and in terms of softness, to me its the same as if I had used fabric softner. Actually I think it feels better than when I used fabric softner because it almost seemed like the fabric softner left a residue on/in the fabrics. And as a side note...it makes my washer much happier, no more fabric softner gunk building up on the dispenser.

I use it with my regular liquid det. I pour it all in the wash at once. I did my dad's laundry since my mom's in the hospital and he said that he's never seen his clothes so clean. It really helps take out odors too.
