I have a 'medicine basket' since we don't have a medicine cabinet, per se, in our bathroom. I just keep all medications in a basket that goes on the top shelf in the bathroom closet. I just cleaned it out today and had so much junk in there! Stuff we haven't used in years and years! We really don't use that many medications in general, so it was great to clean it all out and get it organized.

I found that I have about 8 digital thermometers...how did that happen!? LOL!

lol my mother is like that! i helped her do some spring cleaning earlier this year and i cleaned out the medicine cabinet. holy crap! there was stuff in there from like 13 years ago!!! its just wrong! lol i still make fun of her! hehe

i'm not that way however, i also have mine in a basket. i have to pull it down every sunday to put all my medication into my pill boxes for the week... so at that time i inventory everything to see what needs to be replaced next week. and i also clean out old or expired meds.

I cleaned mine a couple of weeks ago. We don't have to use meds alot around here. I threw out about 3/4 of the contents. How liberating.

I go through our medications once a year. I just did this a few months ago. Since I do this annually, I didn't have too many things to toss out.

Most of our meds are in my bathroom cabinet and I clean it out about 2 times a year. Throw away all the bottles of stuff that only have a few drops of something left and throw the out dated meds. I don't know how we get that much stuff in such a short amount of time.

I don't use the "medicine cabinet" for medicine. I use a rubbermaid basket thing. I clean it out fairly often. Mostly because everything always falls down when hubby gets anything out of it and I have to straighten it back up so I clean it out. I check the dates on all the meds often too.

I have a medicine cabinet in dh and my master bath that I go through once a year. I throw away (safely) and meds expired, consolidate meds that two boxes were opened at the same time, and then go shopping and replace what we need. We have Lots of meds. I have a relief for every major symptom! From laxative (yes I eat my fiber), to pepto for dh (he has a very sensitive stomach and several times a month it acts up) to gas pills (I get these debilitating gas attacks every so often - menopause is so wonderful - that have absolutely no warning. Without these things I wouldn't be able to function. I don't take too many cold meds since they don't work for me, except the stuff that thins mucus in your chest - I get so congested without this stuff I'm literally not able to speak clearly for a few weeks when I get a bad cold. And nasal spray. Yes they say not to use it! But if you are so stuffed up that you cannot breathe at ALL - I'm not talking rebound - I'm talking having bad sinuses - so I do use it sparingly when I have a cold. Dh has allergies and uses different meds at different times of the year so we have all that. Then of course, Motrin, Tylenol, - get these head banger sinus headaches sometimes for days and I have to alternate the two. Ugh! Anyway, I clear this one out once a year.

Then in the kitchen I have more of the first-aid stuff and ds's meds (believe it or not he doesn't get much) I'll go through this twice a year - at the end of the school year to prepare for summer: sunscreen, bandaids, allergy meds (ds and I are very sensitive to bug bites) etc. and then once at the beginning of the school year - hand sanitizer (which we don't use much anymore) and children's Motrin, etc.

About once or twice a year. We use a lot of prescription medications so I need to keep the meds organized. Everything is in one cabinet in the kitchen. I hate to have all the supplies spread out through the house.

I have 2 plastic shoeboxes in the kitchen cabinet, away from the stove. I keep adult medication in one and children's medicine in the other. It is mostly vitamins. I have a pill organizer and fill it up weekly. I happened to clean out the expired medicine yesterday. I don't have a stockpile.
