What do you do to decorate your home for the holidays that costs absolutely nothing? Share your ideas here! Here are a few of my own?

*Prominently display the holiday cards/photos you receive in the mail
*If you have green shrubs, take cuttings from them to use in bowls, vases, etc.
*Display the artwork your kids bring home from school

I was given several stalks of heirloom corn this year. I wrapped it in a bunch and with a pretty ribbon and it is sitting in my window . Though I need to use the glue gun on the ribbon.

-I just make sure to save all decorations each year and REUSE!!!
-We have a hand-me down fake Christmas Tree that was given to us for free.
-Sew a patch work tree skirt from my left over fabric remnants.
-Display decorations that your children make you!
-If you are in need of tree decorations you can make them from things around the house! Make garland out of popcorn and cranberries. Hang candy canes. Tie bows onto the branches. Use your left over scrapbooking paper to make paper chains that you can hang!

Last year i stung cranberries and popcorn and had sooooo much fun...I put it on a real tree that my dad and i planted when i was 8!!! so that was fun...and it was free!

My dear Grandmother handed me down my Love for Christmas...last year was the first year that she allowed me to put up her beautiful fake tree that she decorates with all Crystal ornaments ( which scared me to death that i would break them! lol) She then bought a brand new christmas tree which she spent $500 dollars on and it was at 1/2 off!
She gave me her old one which is BEAUTIFUL!!!
Sadly she passed away this passed sept. and wont get to use her new tree, but i am going to go over and put it up for my Grandad. Making last christmas even more special that I got to put it up with her the last christmas she was alive!

And we will then put up our new?old christmas tree at our house!

I'll put cranberries in the bottom of a clear vase, add water, then add pine and holly leaves from outside. It smells great.

I also weave pine around my chadelier (being careful not to touch the bulbs) and weave ribbon through it. Depending on the size of your chandelier, you can also hang ornaments you alread own off of it.

I also have a big brass bowl that I put pine and and apples in.

I got a free fake tree from my mom last year
I got a big box of 100 ornaments from my dh's aunt
dh's mom gave me some of her Christmas stuff that she had never used-ornaments, Christmas shower curtain
I will also hang up the few Christmas cards that we get and ALL of the boys stuff that they make at school.
I did buy some crafts for us to do for Christmas decorations-not free but it was on sale.
I will probably go to familyfun.com and see what other decorations we can come up with using supplies we have already.

every year we think of new things to do... sometimes, we will buy plain stockings from the dollar store and each person gets to make their own stocking with glitter and glue and we put the year on them. Its nice to look at stockings made long ago.
We have also bought plain bulbs, and decorate them with the year and then hang them on the tree. I love putting them on the tree year after year.
This year we found plastic snowflakes, so of course we glittered them up, then hung them from the ceiling, it really looks nice and people comment on it when they see our living room, and the little ones think its funny when we joke that it is snowing in the living room.

I get some of the best ideas going online and looking at crafter's blogs. There are about a million of them and they're usually connected to other crafter's blogs -- I can get lost in their work for hours!

I guess you can call it "Free Ideas!"

a few years ago, I took all of my mom's old glass ornaments (the plain round ones from the 70's) and redecorated them. I realized that the paint was on the inside and removed it with a solution of bleach and water. I was left with clear glass ornaments that I could have done a hundred different things with. I chose to paint them white and cover them with glitter so they looked like snowballs. You could even put things inside of them.
