If you make things like fudge and other candies/goodies to give as gifts, how do you package them? I'm looking for creative ideas that aren't too expensive.

I put some goodies in cheap x-mas mugs (read, I got them for free at a christmas exchange party). I tied the treats in green plastic wrap and then put them in the mugs.

This year I think I'm just going to do clear plastic treat bag type things. I'll tie the top w/ some festive ribbon and perhaps make a fun gift tag if time permits.

I was at Dollar Tree today and they have really cute holiday treat bags. Check out the Dollar Tree if you have one in your area.

Thanks! The Dollar Store is a great suggestion.

Last year I got a good deal on plastic containers with lids at Walmart. I got big containers (about the size of large butter tubs) for $1.00. I like the Christmas mug idea, I think I will hit the thrift stores around here to get some really cheap. Than just wrap up the goodies and and some pretty string. Dollar stores are great places for the plastic baggies, that is where I got all my Halloween bags.

We use coffee cans. My parents save theirs all year long for me- and we save ours too. Last year I did two different kinds of fudge...marshmallow and Ande's mint fudge. I have a bunch of "holiday fabric" I got on clearance after last Christmas and I cut the piece twice the height of the coffee can. I lay it even at the bottom of the can, hot glue it on and the extra fabric is gathered at the top of the can to "close it" with a ribbon. I think I'll do peanut butter and Ande's mint fudge this year. It's easy, but everyone likes it!

There was a recent post on here with recipes of favored popcorn Loved it and that is what we'll be doing this year, especially for my husband's co-workers. I have little gift baggies and will be picking up little baskets from the thrift stores. Add a little fabric, a little ribbon, = inexpensive gift that looks nice!

And there was another post about holiday work gifts - Cookie2 posted a bunch of great ideas! I may use some of hers for NEXT year.

I make the apple jelly out of canned apple juice on the Sure-jell package. I put the jelly into the small jelly jars (a box of 12 cost 6.00) and then I buy some inexpensive jelly spreaders - I always find these 3/1.00 at Dollar General at Christmas - then I tie the spreader to the jelly jar with raffia and make a bow. It is so cute - it doesn't need to be wrapped.

The recipe makes 12 small jelly jars. You have twelve gifts for little money.

This year I am going to try to give chocoate covered pretzels, maybe put them in gift bags tied w/ribbon. Rachel Ray has a great 5-minute fudge recipe that is nice to give around Christmas.

All year long, I buy baskets at GW or other thrift stores (.29-.99) and use them at Christmas, birthdays, housewarmings, or whatever to put candles, homemade jams/jellies/breads, and other little treats in. I also keep an eye open for little scarves, tea towels, etc. to line the baskets with, then fill with personalized goodies. My husband is ready to toss out my stash of baskets, but they really do make nicely done gifts that don't clutter up the recipients' homes and I always tell them they can regift the baskets if they don't need them.
