What does everyone use to clean their potty?

I had never cleaned a toilet before because it totally grosses me out. I know that sounds bizarre for a woman of 40+. I decided when I moved into my new house that I was gonna "grow up" and do it. I have been doing it now every Monday for about 6 months and it isn't as bad as I thought (even though I do gag on occasion). I have noticed that there are streaks on the inside of bowl where the water fills into the bowl. My hubby said that is because of the type of water we have. Anyway, what can I use to get these water steaks off? The are a brownish/yellowish color, but it is not waste.

Also, last Monday I used a new bowl cleaner. It has a handle and the pads pop right on and off. The pads already have a cleaner on them and it is blue in color. I cleaned the bowl and the seat with these and the seat is now stained blue. Any ideas on how to get this off?

What am I doing wrong? Is it just because this is something new to me that I'm having such a hard time? Should it be this difficult? Please tell me, what do you use to clean your commode?

P.S. Next we'll talk about water spots in the shower!

I use cheap good old fashioned comet to clean the toilet bowl. As for the seat I would suggest trying the Magic Eraser by Mr. Clean they seem to get every stain out.

Or...to save yourself some money, just go into the kitchen and grab a bowl and mix together some baking soda, dish detergent, and water to make a paste. Use this to scrub off the blue. It's like a homemade Soft Scrub. You can also dump some into the toilet bowl and scrub. I wipe down my toilet seat with vinegar. It deodorizes and disinfects, although it'll smell like vinegar for a bit until it dries. Once it does, the smell goes away though.

I either use plain old scouring powder or "The Works" toilet bowl cleaner.

I also have the same brushes as you but our toilet doesn't get that RING around it YET.

But every Saturday (yup today) my DSpouse cleans to toilet and he uses clorox wipes for the seat and baking soda and straight vingear to sit over night. Flush in the morning.. CLEAN

Cleaning toilets doesn't Gross me out but a dirty germy one does!

So.....
I Wipe down every Toilet seat and all about 5 days a week. I use Clorox wipes and It gets a Nice spray down with lysol.

3 of those days I Clean the inner bowl , with a Brush and Lysol cling.

You have to Clean Really really Well under the rim of the toilet itself,

And Don't forget to Clean Behind the Toilet!! alot of dirt Accumulates there.

We do have harder water here - and that is Mainly why I Clean the Inner Bowl so Many times- If I Only did it once a Week there would Be A nasty coating in the water.

I use the toilet brush without cleaner every day. Once a week I'll spray it down with vinegar and water and wipe the whole toilet really well. I haven't bought toilet cleaner for a couple years. I haven't needed to buy cleaner because brushing it out every day keeps it clean enough. We also have hard water, sometimes it comes out of the faucet orange tinted, it's so bad.

I also use the soft scrub recipe that LuvMySoldier suggested for many many things. It hasn't failed me once.
