I am looking for a good pattern for some slippers or socks for winter. Where does everyone get their patterns? Or does anyone know the name of a good book with patterns or something? Our walmart has stopped carrying the pattern leaflets.

I saw a really cool website online awhile back. I think it was knitting and near as I can tell this is all this woman does. But if you google knitting and socks there are a ton of patterns to find.

Lulu ann,

I found this pattern some time ago and made a pair of slippers for my toddler daughter and am currently working with some camo yarn to make some for my son. They are UBER EASY and you can use 2 needles instead of circular ones.

The Irish Ewe: Two Needle Slippers

Hope that helps!!

Thanks Prplhez8! That's exactly what I was looking for! I've got camo yarn, and I think I'm going to use it for my little boy too, that's a great idea! Thanks again!

A lot of the yarn makers will have free patterns on their websites - I know Lion, Patons, and Bernat do, and I expect most of the other companies do as well. You may have to sign up for their email newsletter to be able to access the patterns, but I didn't notice an increase in spam after doing so, and the newsletters are interesting.

Other people put patterns online, usually ones that they designed. Googling crochet +sock or something should help find a few. Try Ravelry.com and Crochetville.com, they're both websites for yarncrafting.

Also, check your local library. Ours has quite a few books on crochet and knitting (more knitting than crochet, but oh well).
