I am so sick of buying something and then having it fall apart right away.
I have gone through 2 food sealers in the last 8 months...
And I just bought a new vacuum 2 months ago and now that has lost it's suck ( not clogged )
Why is everything NOT made to last more that 2 minutes. I get so sick of having to return things, or call a company because it is made so cheaply
Oh and we just bought a new dishwasher- mid line $450- and it had a horrible thin plastic hose connecter that dh replaced in the first week.
I would be willing to pay a bit more $$$ for things, but I'm not convinced that means it is made better....

I feel the same way all the time. I get so upset not only that something is broken or not working correctly, but then I also have to take time out of my busy schedule to call customer service or whatever and then usually sit on hold! My answer so far has been to cut some of these things out of my life. I know some things are necessities and when they are I like to read lots of reviews before buying them (online).

Call the company. My mom just called the company on a food saver that they used a couple of times and it didn't work anymore. The company is send her a new one so then she thought she would call on her coffee pot that she bought a month ago and they too are sending a new one.

If I'm going to be buying an appliance or something that I'm worried about breaking or not working properly, I spend a LOT of time reading as many reviews on as many sites as possible. I look into the company and their return policy.
This is after my one bad experience - I bought a meat grinder because it "said" it would do all these things, and it was a decent price, around $100. It was CRAP. Finally I later looked into it, and found out most people thought it was crap. Nice. I ended up buying a second grinder for $90, and it had very impressive reviews, and a very nice company and policy. I love it - it's better than it said it would be.
(Which food sealer do you have? I have one of the higher end name brand food savers, and I use the heck out of it - it's still as awesome as the day I bought it. $130 well spent for me).

Try to get a Dyson Animal!! I've had mine for 6 years and use it almost daily. I have 1 dog now but we usually have 2 two dogs. I purchased my Dyson on ebay, remanufactured. Never had a problem. I finally wore out the hose which is $40 to replace.

My mum and dad always brought the cheaper brand 'why waste all that money when you can get it so much cheaper' I could never get it through to them that they should buy quality not go by price tag. If the cheaper brand is good quality I get that if not then the expensive one, it always works out cheaper when you think of the labour getting someone to fix it or the time spent in having it fixed. I get online reviews aswell, but I try and not go by what one person said. For instance our pram cost $500.00AUD so I really looked into it before I got it. There where 4 reviews, 3 good and one bad. I went and looked at it myself keeping in mind what everyone said and still got it. I have no regrets. I think you need to remember with reviews is everyone has a different opinion, experience and intelligence level. I have saved a lot of money by being educated about the product before I go in. I also when I decide what I want to buy go to an online comparison site see the different brands, reviews and features of each, I then thoroughly research three that I am interested in, I usually end up dismissing one after this research. When it comes time to go to the shop and the salesman comes over, I get very authoritive, I tell him these are the two I am looking at and that is all that I'm interested in. This way I get all the info I need from him just on those two items and as I have obviously researched them I find I don't get the crap that some of them try to spin you. I also only pay in cash. We don't buy anything unless we have the cash for it, we usually get a $100.00 or the cost of delivery taken off the price too. I have yet had anything breakdown and I think it is because I do buy quality, I check the thickness of the plastic, metal, knobs, buttons etc, thin is cheap, thick is good.

Sad, but true. I'm starting to take on the view of mamato1monkey - learn to live without some things.
