For me? Yes and no. I've saved money making my own curtains and gifts, especially since I do a better quality than what I would pay for at a store. But I've also spent a lot of money on fabric and other items. And though I enjoy making stuff, I also have to remember not to procrastinate when it comes to projects.

I would have to say yes and no also. While in the past it would have been "no" ~ I have a Fabric habit something fierce ~ it's because of that habit that recently I have been able to make many christmas presents & birthday presents without spending money. Also, it does come in handy when you need to alter something you already own to fit your needs, rather than go and buy something new (ex: curtains, lampshades, kids clothes, etc...). Or when I choose to make my cards instead of buying them.

I'll go with yes and no, also. Yes, I do save money on gifts and clothes for the boys and I, but I find that I make more things I wouldn't even think of buying, just because I can make it.

For the most part, no! I have a nasty addiction to all things crafty and tend to spend more than I should sometimes. I'm working on changing that and trying to use what I have instead of buying new supplies for every new project. My other big thing is finishing a project before starting something new!! I tend to buy stuff for future projects when I haven't even had time to finish the ones I already have supplies for.

Not so far...my first crafty thing is scrapbooking and I just started. It is costing me a ton of money right now, but I am hoping it will help me stay home and out of the stores in the future. I love it and hope to spend more time doing it, so maybe sometime in the future....

It does me because I am able to make things I would normally have to buy. Not to say I don't spend a lot on different supplies but I know I come out ahead somewhere. Especially if its for gifts.

Right now I'm working on knitting scarves for Christmas gifts. I know I can make them much cheaper than I can go and buy a nice one somewhere. Yes you can get cheap fleece ones at the dollar tree sometimes but I think knitted/crocheted ones with nice soft yarn is a much nicer way to go. Besides I enjoy making them.

Probably not. I get all my scrapping stuff for free, so that's ok. You'd think sewing would save you money, but I was going to make some PJ bottoms for my husband for Christmas and it was half as much to just buy him a pair. I haven't bought any hair bows for my daughter, but I did buy the elastic lace and ribbon to make some... So not really.

I would have to say that it has saved me money. I make dresses for my daughter and dolls, (save a ton making doll clothes instaed of buying them) and I make all the stuff for my home like pillows, curtains, quilts...etc. I actually save money on my sewing by buying patterns only on sale, at yardsales, or in lots on ebay. I'm lucky enough to have a fabric outlet store within driving distance so I don't have to spend a lot on fabric either. So, yes, I save money, but at the same time, I don't use fancy fabrics or go overboard with trim. I stick to cotton. When it comes to silk or lace or velour, I just buy it.
