We're doing this for show and tell this week. I thought it was a cool idea!
Craft Library: Milk Carton Bird Feeder
This week's Craft of the Week is again brought to us by the authors of 365 Days of Creative Play. The response to these crafts have been overwhelming and quite a number of folks have written to say how much their children have enjoyed these crafts.
This week's crafts feature a wonderfully simple bird feeder and a flower collage- both are perfect for the summer months.
What you need:
1/2 gallon milk carton
String
Crayons or paints
Bird food- seeds, nuts, dried bread, dried fruit
What you do:
1. Cut out large windows from all 4 sides of the milk carton, leaving 2 inches, top and bottom. Color with crayons or paints.
2. Poke 2 holes through the top of the carton. Tie the string through each hole. Fill the bottom of the carton with bird food.
3. Finally, take the feeder outside and hang it by the strings from a tree. Remember to frequently replace the bird food with a fresh supply.

My 9 year old daughter and i tried the birdfeeder and loved it! the only problem was that it didn't have perches for the birds. sooo...we took a small dowel and poked it all the way through the carton. it worked great!
