Ours was our back yard. It is huge and hard to find such large yards in our town anymore. When property was booming everyone kept coming in, buying the houses with large yards and subdividing them. In fact that was our concern when our house came on the market was that a developer would come in with more money than we.

But the house isn't bad either and it was well constructed. It is just kind of small ... we hope to remodel it one of these days.

We were under fire and had to find something quick as we had sold our other home. We also had a price range we needed to stay in. A large yard was something we were also looking for. As you said, big yards in town are kind of rare. So we liked that. Also, the mud room was a huge selling point. It also had the nicest basement of any of the houses we looked at.

Mine was PRICE! - We had a very low budget and this house came in $10k lower than we were looking at! - It's a huge house for us and it had been completely remodeled. The neighborhood is so-so but we don't plan on being here forever. Once ds starts school we'll start looking again.

Our was the yard and the Builder. A lot of the yards here are very tiny. You can't even toss a ball for your dog or have room for a swing set. But our house had a bigger yard so the kids and dog could play and the builder is great. The other Bonus is that it's an energy efficient home! I love this house.

Our yard, the view & the PRICE. Our home was $105,000 which is unheard of in this area. It was a horrible mess when we moved in. It is slowly coming around. I need to be patient with the remaining projects.

Price (we basically only paid for the 3 lots it was on!), and the opportunity for us to really make the home ours, since it needed A LOT of work. I still laugh when I think of how bad it was.

Location, size of yard, and the high ceilings (for dh). I actually never saw the house in person until we had had it under contract for at least a week. The first two factors were what convinced me to buy.

Our yard sold me on our house, we looked at a TON before we bought this one, and all the yards were either non existant or really small, and with 2 kiddos I wanted a really big yard. The house itself I could have passed on, we've got water issues in the basement, and its small (1212 sq feet). We're hoping to renovate and fix it up and sell it in a few years and then either move back to Canada or build.
