Also, it helps if you add a little beer now and then! Which I need to go do. It also helps if your husband is a bit more compost friendly. Mine calls it the trash heap. Actually he started burning part of it the other day! I was like, "What are you doing?! It is almost ready!!"

Thanks for the link - it was extremely useful since I didn't know what exactly qualified to be composted. My only problem is that I live in an apartment so whatever container I get would have to go on the balcony - any suggestions??

What does the beer do?

I just started composting last week. I'm doing it in a big plastic trash barrel. DH drilled lots of holes in it, and I've been throwing scraps in each day. Every few days, you're supposed to latch the lid, tip it on its side and roll it around. This way you don't have to turn it with a shovel.
