comforter. How often to you have it dry cleaned??

Since a King size comforter is too big to just throw in the washing machine, I was curious as to how often people have them dry cleaned??

I actually just took mine to the laundromat and air dried it at home. It came out really nice and sooooo clean. I won't tell you how long I had it before I cleaned it! I didn't want to dry clean it b/c of the chemicals and also the cost. I thought washing it would be cheaper.

HTH!

I was about to answer you when I realized, I don't have a King sized comforter. I have a full size comforter on a King sized bed. I just throw mine in the wash. I have been really wanting to get a new one. I guess I will be taking it to the laundrymat if I buy a new one. Which I really need to do.

When we had our king sized comforter, we just took it to the laundromat and used their jumbo front loading washers. One solution is to get a duvet cover-or make one since they are expensive. You can easily sew one from two king sized flat sheets. It is much thinner than a comforter and will fit in a normal washer and dryer. Then you can wash it every week since it will be getting dirty, and you can go longer on washing the comforter.

I also take my King size comforter to the laundry mat. I just do it once a year.

can you put a dryclean only comforter in the washing machine? i bought one of those dryel kits, but I don't know that the thing will even fit in my dryer to use it! to those who wash it elsewhere and bring it home - do you throw it in your dryer, hang it outside to dry?

I give my king size comforter twice a year for dry cleaning. After reading the posts here, I checked my comforter and it says that I can clean it in the machine or give it for dry cleaning. I should now try to stuff it into my washer.
