How long do you guys keep your linen/comforter before you buy a new one?

WE had ours for about 3 years now. When we got married three years ago we bought 3 bed-in-a-bag set and we just keep rotating them. Unfortunately one of them is starting to get really worn out and we are thinking about buying a new one. We got it from Domestications.com. I'm not very educated when it comes to buying linen/comforter maybe that's why everytime I wash mine it comes out with little tear in the fabric. Cheap materials maybe to blame.

How often do you wash your comforter?

We wash ours once a week. I have to take it to the laundry mat because the washing machine and dryer are much bigger.

My dh and I have been married for almost 10 years and still use the same comforter we got at our shower. We do rotate it out with two others, but it is the primary one. We wash it every two-three weeks (we don't really use the comforter much other than to cover the bed.)

We have had our comforter for about 9 yrs now. I only wash it when it seems dirty. We buy new sheets when the other ones wear through. I am not very concerned about how they look. I am way too practical sometimes.

I just threw out our comforter this weekend due to wear and tear. We got it at Linen and Things 6 years ago. It probably would've lasted longer if I had it dry cleaned as recommended but I would always put it into the washer. I am currently looking for one that is washer friendly!

Bedspreads are a weakness of mine! I usually buy a new one about twice a year!

Don't ask me why, I have always like new bed linen!

We have a Queen sized quilt that my grandmother made for me as a wedding present.. (before I was even engaged!) As it was her last quilt that she finished it is extreamly special to me. The quilt is our only bedspread, so we use it year round. I put it in use 5 years ago when I discovered that it worked on our cal-king waterbed.. and then we downsized to a queen standard bed.

I wash it at least once a year (more often if it gets dirty). We always sleep under at least a sheet, and sometimes multiple other blankets.. so very often it is only used as a pretty covering during the day. When I wash it, I use special quilt soap, gentle cycle & dry it on no heat tumble dry. I would love to put it on a line outside, but I don't because we have not yet lived in a neighborhood that allows clotheslines.

We use down duvets instead of comforters and I wash the cover for them, every week. I wash the down duvet about once a year in my MIL's front loader and it does a great job.
