I would like to do a scrapbook for each of my kids up to one year. I figured I would put the rest of the photos in photo albums but I would like to do a one year baby book for each. I already started my oldest son's and was wondering if anybody had any hints and tips on things I could do. I figured on using his cards in it, and hospital bracelets and also incorporate some things that were in his baby book. It is just a free thin one I got from somewhere. Anyway any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

This is me too. I don't know what to include. I probably want to include too much stuff. I'm so scared of messing it up or not "getting it right" that I haven't started.

I did a lot of journaling in mine! They change so much during the first year. I included a family tree, braclets from hospital, a history of mom and dad (like birthdate, schools attended, etc) and lots of pictures. Oh my ds had hair from his first haircut. I don't keep cards, I find them weird to put in a book and then you can't open the card to see who it's from, but that's just my opinion. Have fun!!

Don't be afraid -- just do it --- I KNOW your kids will cherrish these scrap books FOREVER. My daughter is 5 months and I have been working on her 1st year book. I had a lil help though -- at my baby shower I had family and friends make a scrap book page of baby's firsts -- this so helped get me started. Some ideas:

1. Document any the firsts that you remember and/or have pictures of.
2. Journal your thoughts, feelings -- they'll love it.
3. Do a page on their name - meaning, why you chose it...
4. Do a page on what was happening when they were born -- cost of stuff, popular people, politics, and historical events.

Good luck and have fun!

I'm working on ds #2's first year book now. I have pregnancy pics, ultrasound pics and the nursery pictures first. In ds #1 I also had baby shower pictures. Then comes the hospital pictures. After that I divide it up by month. I enlarge my favorite snap shot from each month to a 5 by 7. I make a page for each month with the 5 by 7, the dates of that month and any major accomplishments for that month. Everything that happened in that month (holidays, eating, bath, etc) and regular everyday pictures taken that month go after that month, then I put the next month, etc.

Some event to make sure you include (if you have pics for them):
first bath
first food
sleeping page
page with siblings
first haircut
dedication (or baptism) at church
first of each holiday
crawling
walking
family vacations
family trips/activities (zoo, pumpkin patch, farm show, family reunion)
1st birthday party

I put the above pages in with the months pages.

I'm sure that there are more pages I'm forgetting, but hope this is helpful.

I totally agree with putting all of the first in there. I also put in cards that were given to me from their grandparents, and great grandparents.

Pictures of the baby with the grandparents, etc
hospital pictures
pictures of you pregnant with them
lots of journaling. If you don't remember any of the details at least journal under the pictures you do remember.

The most important thing is to have fun and don't crop much. I did way to much croping with my first book and you can tell it isn't as good as the second and third books.
