We just layed the hard wood floor in dd's room and I bought some cute little pink flower rugs.... now I just need a non skid thingy for the bottoms. There must be someone here with a great idea for it, so I don't have to spend $20 on them lol

THANKS

Hmmm, I'm trying to think of something that wouldn't discolor your hardwood floor.

The first item that comes to mind is latex paint. You'd paint patches on the back of the rugs and that might make them sticky enough.

Second was rubber cement, but that is much more volitile and is much more likely to discolor the floor. Plus, not everyone has rubber cement on-hand.

Do you have old shoes laying around? If you remove the inserts, you might find that the underside is made of a material that is just sticky enough to hold the rugs in place. You'd want to trim any lumpy parts off the shoe insert, of course.

Do you have any uncoated latex elastic laying around. Look on old clothes that are due for recycling (I try to glean sewing notions off of clothes that aren't good enough for the thrift store). If you have no other use for the elastic, then applying it to the underside of the rugs might keep them in place.

I applaud you for trying to think of something you already have on-hand to solve this problem, instead of running out to the store and throwing money at it. That's the frugal way!

I use those drawer/closet/shelf grip liner things...They're cheaper than real rug liners.

Me too! Works great. You can find them at the dollar store, but you may need to buy a few rolls. Good luck!
