And I believe my children (daughter mostly, she's older) has more toys than any children ever. My husband joked that she had more toys than the preschool over behind our house! I'm not so sure that this is actually a joke.

How the heck did we manage to aquire all of this stuff? Better yet what do we do with it?!

I bet to differ.. I'm CERTAIN my lil'est one has the MOST of any child ever,, or more than any two children ever! lol

We've been doing as much thinning, sorting, purging and organizing as possible, and it IS astonishing isn't it!?

I've convinced her to have a garage sale,, and mentioned children she knows that might love 'such and such'

We go to a coop where there are children from birth to 5 years,, so luckily I now know 'babies' that she can pass stuff onto that she's 'too big for now'

I have done several playroom purges. I grouped things together and sold them on Craigslist. I donated a few things, too.

I have 3 rubbermaid bins in the laundry area for toys. I rotate them instead of buying more. I have been really good about not buying toys other than for holidays or birthdays.

I bought a soccer goal and some sand toys with the money I made on Craigslist. They get a lot more exercise with that than the inside toys!

Grouping them together on Craigslist ... that is a thought! Thanks!

What I did was use the same wording in my toy posts like "Playroom Spring Cleaning" and describe the toys in the group. I worded it that they could mix and match the toy items from each post. Since you can post 4 pictures in each post, I listed 4 toys in each group. I sold everything the last 2 times I listed like this. Sometimes I get startup daycare moms that are excited to get a huge group of toys inexpensively.

Good luck!

For example:
Playroom Spring Cleaning! Ride-on, Xlophone, Leapfrog Train, Mr Potato Head
Playroom Spring Cleaning! Doll Playhouses, Sweet Streets, Dora, Pooh
Playroom Spring Cleaning! Wooden Puzzles

That is a really good idea! I've never tried Craig's List I honestly don't know that it would be local enough for me since I live in the sticks. I'm going to check into it though.

I found if you put all the toys in one room it helps. I used to have the girls toy boxes in the computer room and then toys would be all over the downstairs and now i took them up to their room with ALL of the toys and that has helped. They bring things downstairs through the day but at the end of the day everything goes back in their room.

I agree that kids have WAY too many toys. DH wanted to dig to the bottom of the toy boxes at Christmas time and wrap a few things up just to see if they noticed they already owned them. We should have tried but I didn't.
