I read an article were you should seperate the must keeps into 3 places---a lockable file cabinet, long-term storage and an emergency kit.

It's just which ones do I want to keep in long-term storage and which do I want to keep in an emergency kit?

How do you organize yours?

This link may help you: "Your Important Papers: What to Keep and Where" from the Montana State University Extension Service

I just closed out our safe deposit box after several years. We bought a home safe. I keep original docs in it. For things that I occasionally need, like immunization records, I keep copies in my filing cabinet because it's more easily accessible. My parents and the attorney we hired to draw up our wills, living trusts, etc. have copies of all that paperwork.
