If something spill, I immediately wipe anyway, so it's never dirty per se, and I have a shelf dedicated to just leftovers, so I never have anything left in there for more than a week. As far as condiments and such goes, they get used so no question of that going bad either. I do take everything out once every 3 months and give it a good wash, just for my piece of mind, because I DETEST anything dirty in my kitchen, whether it's the counters, fridge, freezer, or the pantry for that matter.
