How clean are your childrens' rooms? Do you clean them or do you have THEM clean them? How long can your child keep thier space clean?
All 3 of my kids or horrible. They will NEVER clean thier room without threats and the usual. My 4 year old tells me 'just throw my toys away'. They can't keep their room clean for more than an hour.

I don't have to worry about this, yet...they don't play in their rooms. But when my sd's were younger and lived with us, they were PIGS. I won't even tell you some of the things I found in their rooms.

My dd doesn't really play in her room either, but she sure does a great job of making a mess in there!
This is a sore spot between me and my dd. I periodically excavate her room and organize things in containers and label them. Everything is so simply organized that a toddler could keep it clean. But can my supposedly intelligent 9 year old? No! It's to the point now that I stand in her room at night while she cleans up to make sure she doesn't just shove things in her closet, under her bed, or in a corner. You'd think a 9 year old could easily put her toy dishes in the container clearly marked "DISHES".

My 2 younger kids share a room and it stays fairly clean, there are no toys in there so they are only in there room to sleep.
My oldest DS's room stays clean now since we moved all video game systems out of there, they are now in the family room. Before moving all the games out it was dangerous in there.
My oldest DD's room is a mess, I'm afraid to go in there.

well Usually oldest dd's room is cleaner!! (she is naturally a cleaner kid ~even her school desk is organised!!~unless she is eating LOL~ ) and youngest dd well she is constantly playing in her room!! so its a mess!!
we usually clean together! I make her start then I help!! oldest dd I will tend to go in her room when it needs it!! since she is at school all day!!
Also I like to clean out the rooms when they are gone and get rid of papers they tend to hold onto!!(they are packrats!! they take after there dad GRRR)
so we do both!! it just depends on there moods!! I do not mind helping!! since I like them to help me!! I figure If I help them they help me! and learn about helping more plus its more time to hang out with them!!!

At 16 we feel thatour DD is old enough to be responsible for her room, if she can't keep it clean, o'well she has to live in it. But if she does ask for help with cleaning we will help her as long as she does her share of it.
Our DS is 9 and he is old enough also, but he is still young enough were it won't stay clean longer than a couple of days. We also help him when he asks.

How clean are your childrens' rooms? Usually, pretty clean...they do a good job of keeping things picked up.
Do you clean them or do you have THEM clean them? Just like in every other room in the house, I vacuum, clean the windows, clean the woodwork, dust, strip the beds each week etc They keep items off the floor, make up their beds when their linens are clean, put away their clean laundry...
How long can your child keep thier space clean? A while...just depends on what they're interested in. If they're in a phase where they're building with legos, there might be legos in an area on the floor for a few weeks. But they're not all over the place, they keep it contained.

I vacuum, wipe down the mirrors and dresser top, dust, and strip the beds. But, I tell them that I can't get in there and do that if they have stuff strewn about. It drives me crazy to see clothes on the floor or covering a chair. I tell them they have to pick up and straighten their beds before: watching t.v., playing on the computer, etc. However, we don't do it everyday.
I have to watch my 8-year-old . . . If she finishes unusually quickly, it means she stuffed everything into her hamper.
