I am learning how to sew and just got a sewing machine a few weeks ago. Im having so much fun with it and have made quite a few things. Anyway since we are on a really tight budget now I was thinking of making my mom a small wallet and purse for Moms day but My purses haven't been coming out too great. so then I thought maybe just a wallet. Check out my site to see one I made for myself. The post before the one on this link shows the purses.

Click here to see the mini wallets

Anyway. my question is is this enough? or does anyone know a site where i can find directions to make a cute and EASY purse lol im even open to suggestions of other things i can make for her.

thanks guys i really appreciate the help

***EDITED***

Here's the link to see the purses i made...

I think you did GREAT! If it were me, I would just keep trying on the purse and even if it's not perfect I would HOPE my mom loved it anyway, lol.

I think they are great, so cute. I make purses too, and I have found that by the time they are full of stuff you don't even notice if they are lopsided or mismatched and people LOVE getting handmade things as gifts. Good idea reusing clothes to make a wallet-I should try it

The wallets are great! I think you should do the purse, too! Here are a few pattern you might want to check out
this one is a smaller purse The Lindie Bag (Free Purse Pattern) « Craft Apple
this one I thought was really cute not sure how difficult it would be Kara's Gingham Purse Tutorial

I think you've done a fantastic job, esp. for being a sewing newbie!! I still can't do purses. I particularly like the quilted bag you made. You really did great! I think these would be perfect for your mom, as long as you stick to the kind of purse she likes (big, small, wallet, handbag, bigger size, etc) in a color scheme she frequently wears. I think she'll love it!

Your wallet looks great!

There is a book Amazon.com: Bend-the-Rules Sewing: The Essential Guide to a Whole New Way to Sew: Amy Karol: Books it's great for beginning sewing and has a lot of projects (wallets / purses) included. It's my favorite sewing book!
