Our kitchen is bright lime green & everyone loves it. My niece liked it so well she painted her kitchen the same color! It's only paint. I would probably only say no if the kid chose something like black as it's so hard to paint over.

Sure I did, and she felt so important that she actually keep her room a little neater and cleaner.

I look at it this way, it is their room and they live in the house too, so they should have a lot of input on what color their room is.

I voted let the kid pick. Even if it were black, I'd let the kids choose.

I'm in the no category and here's why:

- Dh and I have our names on the mortgage, not dd. It's technically OUR room that dh and I chose for her to use, something that I have to remind her when she says she doesn't have to clean her room because it's "hers".

- Dh and I (more like I) have to do all the work.

- My dd's loves and hates change like the wind. I know what she adores now she will hate in 3 months. She already complains enough -- I don't want to add fuel to her fire.

- I prefer neutral walls where you can out change comforters, pillows, and other accessories with relative ease and not worry about the wall color.

You said pretty much what my dh said .. word for word. He's painting the rest of the house first so the decision doesn't have to be made for a couple of weeks. He is so easy going on 95% of things, but decorating is the one thing that he is quite firm about. I'll be working at trying to convince him that I think lime green is a perfectly nice color for ds's bedroom.

Well, since I'm agreeing with your dh, I'll have to tell you that you might be in for a challenge. I'm usually pretty easy-going about things too, but I can't imagine being talked into letting dd have us paint her bedroom a bright color.

Good luck. I hope a solution is reached where everyone can be happy.

I know .. I have a feeling I'm going to lose this one. (I confess to winning in a lot of other areas.)

I'm trying to think of ways to come at it from a different angle. I should show him the last lecture video ....

Do you think you could convince him to allow your DS to have bedding in the green color, or maybe just do one wall in the green as others have suggested?

I say this because my DH sounds just like yours, he is very adamant about walls being nuetral and he likes brown for furniture, etc. I have slowly begun to bring color into our house, like red throw blanket in living room, red and gold plates in kitchen etc. I have been telling DH that I wanted to get a new duvet cover that was livelier for our bedroom. (currently we have a light forest green duvet cover to go with our dark brown furniture and cream color walls). Well for Mothers Day, he and DD bought me a matching sheet set and duvet cover which has monkeys on one side (very darling and lively) and is lime green on the other side. Last night DH confessed that he liked the new look and he was glad I talked him into getting it. He also said that he really liked the lime green color on our bed as it brought a "punch of life" to our bedroom. Maybe you and DH can compromise on this?
