I would like to get a large plant or small tree for my dining rm. We remodeled and I have enough room for it now! The room gets lots of morning sun and indirect light all day. Any ideas?

I'm not very good with indoor plants. I had two casualties over the winter.

Sorry if I put this in the wrong place. I guess it could be a decorating topic.

I am not good with indoor plants - I either kill them or my cat tries to eat them!! Good luck with choosing!

Me, too. I was hoping for a suggestion of something hardy. So far I've only kept at cactus and aloe plant .. LOL!

I've had good luck with ficus trees...I think they're pretty and they like some sun. They're kinda a 'nervous' plant, in that they will drop their leaves if they're not watered enough or if they're moved a lot.

I have some ornamental fruit trees inside (lemon and lime). I bought one for a bathroom and it really did so well, I bought another one! LOL! They definately need some strong light at some point in the day. They have really nice leaves and produce fruits after a year or so. I bought them both at Gurney's online.

Peace Lilies are also easy, take a lot of abuse etc They look like this:

I also have a big plant, gosh...I'll have to ask my sister what the name of it is. It's also very forgiving and easy to grow.

Good luck!

Okay, I figured it out! LOL!

It's a schefflera plant. I got mine at Home Depot when they had a clearance on houseplants. It was pretty close to dead but revived rather quickly with sun/water etc They come in plain green leaves (what I have) or varieties of variegated leaves.

I do try to take care of them. I think my recent losses were because of the woodstove in the basement. They were in the basement window. It is usually cool and all the sudden the woodstove made it very warm.
