We have 2 in our bedroom one on each side of the bed and they do become clutter magnets. The top of it is always clean, but the drawer seems to be a catch all for things!

Step 17-Get organized tells you just to keep the basics on top: a lamp, whatever book your reading, a clock and the phone. Everything else such as: hand lotion, lip balm and tissues should be kept in the drawer or shelf.

Is it time to declutter your nightstand?

or

Do you just have the basics on it?

My dh has the basics on his: clock, thing for his hearing aides and telephone. Mine has everything!!!! But I don't feel too badly since it is basically my only clutter area, whereas dh has a ton of clutter areas throughout the house!

We have bedside tables that are pretty small...my father actually made them, they're in the shaker style. They're not really my 'style' but he made them, so I love them. LOL

Since they're so small, and I'm really a person that prefers no knick-knacks, simple etc Dh and I each have a lamp and glass dish for small items. That's it.

Underneath in the little cabinet, we each have a flashlight. DH usually has a pile of receipts and change in his cabinet. I have lotion, pad of paper, pens/pencils...but that's pretty much each. They don't tend to attract clutter at our house.

We have bedside tables on both sides of the bed. DH's never gets cluttered. Mine does occassionally, but it is usually with books and water glasses. Ours don't have drawers, but if they did, they would totally be junk drawers. I know myself that well...

We have a table on each side of the bed. They each have a lamp, alarm clock, picture of the kids and mine has a candle too. The drawers each have a booklight, paper and pen. Dh's is nice and clean underneath on the shelves, mine however, is stacked with books and magazines!
