such as a hutch or bookcase?

Many of the new homes even have built-ins for tv's.

Do you like the idea of built-ins so there is less furniture?

or

Don't like them because you lose wall space?

We had some in the past 2 houses we lived in which were both circa 1940. They worked well and fit in nicely with the wood work. I think it just depends on what they look like as to whether I like them or not. We do not have any now in our 100+ yr old house.

No...we don't at this house and I'm glad! I don't often like built ins! At our old house (over 100 year old house) it had a whole wall of built in shelves in the living room, and a built in clamshell shelves in the dining room. The dining room ones were okay but I didn't like the shelves in the living room...there were too many for my taste, it took up a whole wall etc
