How often do you clean your microwave?

How do YOU clean it?? Any special tips??

I try to clean mine weekly. And I try to keep food covered in it so it doesn't get all splattered. Dh never covers stuff, it's always a mess.

I clean it when it needs it. I really don't use my microwave very often in general...so it just doesn't get dirty.

I usually wipe mine out with a sponge...if there is stuff stuck on, I heat up a bowl or mug with water in it and let it sit in there for a while. The steam from the water really loosens things up.

I read an article recently that said you could spritz it with some water, then run it for 30 seconds to loosen things up. Then wipe it out. I need to try that.

I have to normally clean mine a couple times a week the kids don't always remember to cover whatever they are reheating.

I wipe min out with a sponge or cloth with water, if it has really stuck on food I just heat up some water in a bowl and let the steam loosen it up.

We hardly use our microwave, but when we do, I have one of those plastic covers in there so there's no reason for anyone to forget to cover their food. It gets a good cleaning once a week by the cleaning lady. She fills a bowl of water and puts quarter of lemon in it, and runs it for about 2 minutes, then then wipes with a paper towel, and washes the cover and the round turntable glass thing-a-ma-jig with soap and water.

twice a week i clean it out...i put four tablespoons of lemon juice( bottled) in a pyrex measuring cup and add a bit of water and turn it on for 2 minutes then take the cup out...anything wipes right off and has a nice smell too.

If DH never used the microwave it would never have to be cleaned!!!

I would say we clean ours about once a month and I'll heat a bowl of water for about 30 seconds and then wipe it out!

I do it every 2 weeks or so (we don't use it alot and if something does spill I try and get it right away).

When I do "clean it" I just put some baking soda (and a toothpick) in a bowl of water set the timer for 2 minutes, Let it sit for a few after the ding, then open it and wipe it down. Effortless!

My dh and sil never cover anything I do but that doesn't make a diffrence. This is how I have always cleaned it and always will. I use thoose thick cleaning rubber gloves. wet a washcloth almost dripping wet nuke it for a new mins let set and then clean with the hot cloth that I put in there. It all comes right off it is steamed off
