How do you prevent growth of mold and mildew on your shower curtain?

I think for me, what I have found that works the best is to make sure it dries completely. I open it up all the way, make sure it's not folded over on itself, each day, so it can dry completely. I don't usually have any problems with mold/mildew. If I notice any (usually in the "seam" along the bottom of the curtain) I just spray some bleach water on it and that takes care of it. Trimming off the seam also can help, since there is no groove for mold/mildew to take hold in.

I bought a hotel-grade fabric shower curtain last time. When it starts to show signs of "ick", I wash it in the washer w/bleach, and it always comes out looking great!

I use the $3 liners from Walmart, and then we have a fabric shower curtain!

We keep our shower curtains fully opened (so you cannot see into the shower) and they dry completly....I replace the plastic curtain about once a year or even a little less often.

The fabric one goes in the laundry as needed.

We also Bought Heavy duty Shower Curtains Yrs. ago , After Going through So Many Cheap Ones. I Highly Reccomend those. They are Nice!

Ours Lasted Us 6 yrs. until Dh Just Put in a Glass shower Door , So I Threw it away.

The Kids Is still Going Strong.

I Wash it About Once a Yr. With Bleach and Other Whites - I Spray The Inner Part Weekly with Shower Cleaner , When I scrub the Shower.
I Spray it daily With Lysol Around the botten and inside too.

Fabric Shower Curtains , Get Washed About twice a Yr., Sprayed With lysol , again almost Daily.

I wash my fabric shower curtain about every other week or so. I also keep it closed when not in use.

Funny, Im in need of a new shower liner so this is a good thread. I was looking at the hotel grade liners, the anti-mildew ones but theyre just under $10. I usually get the $2 one from walmart and change it maybe once a year or so - its time. I did buy one but the one I bought is COMPLETELY see thru and we have a window in the shower (Hate that thing - stupid place for it) so I cant keep the curtain open all the way like I like to (for the sunlight) because you can see in to the bathroom. Sooooo Im thinking of getting a fabric one. Now - do you use just the one fabric curtain or do you use 2 - one that stays on the inside and one on the outside??
