It's that time of the year were the grills get a work out!

So, how do you keep your grill in tip-top shape?

We have a gas grill so it's not too bad, but I put the grate in a garbage bag with a bowl of ammonia on top and let it set overnight. Then the next morning just wipe or rinse the grate off with a wet rag or the hose.

I also use this method to clean my oven. Just put a bowl of ammonia overnight in the oven. The next day take a damp rag and wipe off the inside of the stove.

But be careful because the fumes are really bad, sometimes.

This works on chrome burner pans and chrome shower hanger-rack-thingies

Scraping them off with a wire brush right after grilling (while the grate is still hot) helps alot. But I also will spray the grate with cooking spray (or wipe down with a rag and olive oil) before grilling.

we have a gas grill. WE keep it covered when not in use that helps also. Also before each use and after when it is hto I use a wire brush on the racks. As for anything that drips on the front or when my dh sets the tongs or what he may be using on the sides I use simple green spray it all over let set sometimes if it is really bad I scrub it a little and then just hose off.

We have a gas grill. I also use a wire brush on the racks after every use, does a great job. I also throw the racks into the dishwasher a few times a year and they come out brand new looking.

We have a charcoal grill (My DH hates gas grills). He uses an onion to keep it clean. Right before/ after use he rubs an onion on the grate. It stays really clean.

Thanks for the tip about the onion! Now that I think about it I think I've heard that one before. Thanks for the reminder. I think I'll try that too!!
