This question came to me by email on MS. I hope you can help her out!

I have a cleaning problem////In my bath tub some one before me had but the non slip things in the bottom of my tub. Befoe I moved in the cleaning people pulled them off. You can still see the imprint of them and they collect soap film and dirt film. I have tried EVERTHING and can not get the sticky stuff off. Please tell me what to use.I have used comet cleanser, oil, adhesive removal, bathroom cleaner with oxyclean, Bam bathrm cleaner, alcohol, fingernail polish remover, etc. H E L P

I found a few things that you could try:

-Make sure the tub is completely dry and pour nail polish remover on the marks--use a slightly abrasive cloth- like the green pot scrubbers they sell---if it doesn't get it all off-- due the same with acetone.

-Try either cooking oil & let it sit then putty it up or get GOO GONE... that will take it up as well.

-Mineral spirits and a damp cloth.brings it right up

-WD-40 is really good at cutting most adhesive. I would try it with a pot scrubber. Just make sure you clean the shower with soap afterwards to get the WD-40 off.

-Might try a baggie with ice in it to freeze the gum to make it easier to scrape off

-A straight blade or a paint chipper will take it right off.

-If the tub is enamel over cast iron, try chemistry. Paint stripper, laquer thinner, goo gone, WD40, and the like will have no effect on the vitreous enamel.
If you have a plastic tub stick to the softer solvents like WD40, and paint thinners. Avoid stuff like lacquer thinner and scratchy stuff.

-If you haven't already I would ask at your local Hardware Store if you have one they might know of a product or you could also call a Plumbing Business they might have a suggestion.

I will keep thinking and looking to see if I can find anything else that might work.

A few other suggestions I found are:

-Spray starch, and it dissolved the residue with only a little scrubbing with a paper towel.

-Bar Keeper's Friend! Check out their website: Bar Keepers Friend --Free Shipping, Best Price on the Web Mix as a paste, toothbrush on, wait five minutes, rinse with water, and wipe dry to check area. It might take a few application for results depending on the stain. It can scratch so don't over brush. This product is a polisher also.

-Mr. Clean Magic Erasers might work!

-Cream of tarter and a little elbow grease works wonders.
