We both like to relax when he gets home and even if I have to chase behind the boys and pick up after them for the last half hour it is worth it. I don't like coming home to a messy house and I doubt he does, either.

As for the meal, he gets home between 4:30 and 5:30, so I usually wait until he is home before I start or he will grill.

I am blessed with two very high energy boys that can't be trusted alone for more than two seconds (syrup plus ketchup and cinnamon on new carpet, cascade poured in the dishwasher until the box is empty, my laundry basket with all the neatly folded clothes is empty, etc. are a few things that have happened in the time it takes me to go to the bathroom or answer the phone in another room).

Starting in August that will all change when DS1 is in school until 2:30 PM and DS2 is in preschool two half days a week. However the house is generally clean before he gets home - I clean after the boys are in bed and DH gets home after 10 PM. DH is only home for dinner three days a week and those are his days off, so he is normally around when I cook.

Most times it's in good order by the time dh comes home, but that's just because I tidy it all day long. I have ds put his toys away, unless he's working on a project. It doesn't have anything to do with dh though, I don't feel I have to justify my SAHMing to him. He's already on board, we discussed that even before we got married! If he were the type to question why the house wasn't clean when he got home, I wouldn't have married him!

I do have dinner ready when he comes home, just because he gets home later and by that time we're all famished. But on the odd occasion that it isn't ready, or I don't feel like it for whatever reason, we just pack in the car and head somewhere. No questions asked.

I try to have most of it done before my DH comes home but sometimes I just don't. We like to use this time he is home as family time or time for the kids to be with their daddy. I do the dinner dishes and he gives them baths. Life is good.

Yes. I think my schedule is similar to Liamsmom, I try to get chores done while the girls are having their breakfast and watch a few cartoons before we go outside or have an activity. I also do some work during my two year old's naptime. I usually get up at 5:30 and exercise, shower, throw a load of laundry in and empty the dishwasher before the kids are awake. It is how I like to do things. I do one major chore per day. I clean up the toys at naptime and bedtime. My five year old is good about picking up after herself. Everyone in this house is trained to put their dirty laundry in their basket and put their dishes in the sink or dishwasher, take off their shoes before they come in the house. They don't mind doing it because they always have. It makes things easier on everyone and we have more free time to play.

Dinner time during the week varies, if my hubby will be home at a decent hour which fluctuates each day, I will eat dinner with him. If not, I will cook something light and eat with the kids around 4pm. He grabs something when he gets home.

On the weekend, we eat early around 4:30-5. We like to have time to play more in the evening when it is a little cooler.
