I worked on this dress for my grand-niece today while dh took the kids to the pool. It's called a bishop and was my favorite style of smocked dress for dd when she was little. This turned out to be an inexpensive project- the ribbon was on sale, the fabric was from the $1 table at WM, and it used less than 4 skeins of embroidery floss. I think total cost was less than $5.
That is precious. Smocked dresses and John Johns (little one piece suits for little boys) are extremely popular where I live and sell for around $75 to $100 each. You should sell them!
Thank you everyone! I need to make her older sister a dress before I send this off. Don't want to hurt any feelings by sending a "fancy" dress for the baby and just a playdress for older sister.
There are some smockers who sell on e-bay. They do some really beautiful things. I'm definitely not in their league, so I just stick to smocking for my daughters and as gifts!
That is definately GORGEOUS! Thank you for sharing your creations with us! I hope to one day get my sewing machine fixed so that I can start the learning process!
