Been working on it for almost a week now, since I have to bring the baby over and put her in the trailer where it's cool, and go back and forth to check on her. If it's not too hot I put her on the covered porch for a bit too.

But anyway, my friend wanted a platform deck. Her on and off again bf was supposed to do it but he kept hemming and hawing. So, last weekend, we decided I would try to do it, and went and got all the supplies and I hauled them to her place with my parent's car hauler LOL.

My friend is not a builder type person, so I pretty much had her to help lift things into place when I needed an extra set of hands, and then when she was home, I had her move the spacer nails for me. The rest was all me! Wooo!! I still have to put the skirt board on, and build steps for each side.

The trailer is not level. The deck is LOL. I'ts 12'x12'. I ran into our neighbor at the Home Depot when we were getting the wood and told him I was buildign a deck. He asked DH a few days ago where the deck was and DH told him that since he didn't have the money yet for a deck, I was just going around building them for other people (Our deck needs to be completely torn down, plus the roof has to be redone, and then it has to be changed in layout to be more user friendly - a little more than I can do on my own!).

Woo!

Oh, her "ex" bf was NOT happy either. He showed up one day when we were working on it (well, I was, and she was keeping me company LOL), and proceeded to tell me I didn't level it (I did and it was), and then was telling me I did it wrong and put it in the wrong spot (?????) He then decided to show us how to put the joist hangers on "the right way", and put it on wrong - way wrong like it wouldn't even hold the joist right. I called him out on it, he just said "Huh." By then, I was pretty mad, and then he just got up and left (leaving the hanger wrong). I ended up leaving that day because I was mad and didn't know if he would come back to criticize more.

My friend told him to not come back if I was there, because I was getting pretty riled, and I don't rile easily. I just do not tolerate masochist pigs, and that is exactly what he is (women shouldn't do home improvements, women shouldn't hunt and fish, blah blah blah).

He still is on my "serious anger if he comes within sight list". I need to work on that. Still, it's pretty dang stupid to piss off a woman who has a Skil saw and knows how to use it!

DH is a great man though (one of the many reasons I love him so!) He nicely gave me advice that I asked him for, and then just let me go at it, and he said it looks very nice (and when am I going to do ours?)

Well you have had a pretty dang productive week, booker! First you rebuilt the riding mower, then you built a new deck! My dh would be SO turned on. That is very cool that you know how to do all that stuff. It looks great!
