I have an idea for a quilt that I would like to make for both my kid's grandmothers for Christmas. I just need some suggestions as to how to best do it. My mom only has the 2 grand kids. My mother-in-law has 4. These are all the grand kids there will be on either side so I want this to be something that reflects the kids completely. I was thinking about using their hand prints to outline the quilt with center squares that had their names and birth dates. I would appreciate any suggestions on other things I might add or other ways to do it. I'm planning to use embroidery to do the hand print outlines and probably cross stitch the names and birth dates.

Here is a thought- what about making it a wall hanging quilt. You could even hae done so that future generations could take the piece you started as the middle and add on. Your kids add their kids and then so on. It could be a really neat family heirloom that all started on the thought of you doing this for the grandparents.
