Default What to plant for winter?

RIght now in a small area on the side of the house I have 4 tomatoe plants that are doing great! I was wondering what I can plant there once the tomotoes are done?

While the tomatoes are still there you can start garlic and onions. Depending on your winter weather, you can grow the following in the shoulder season:

~ lettuces

~ cabbage

~ some herbs

~ root veggies like beets, turnips, parsnips, horseradish (but I don't think carrots will work). Radishes might work, they grow awfully fast.

~ broccoli and cauliflower

How hard are things like brocoli and cauliflower to grow? I would like to garden year round or at least close. Never tried anything like these two before. Also never done any leaf type of veggie either.
