What are you doing to keep the kids creative this summer? Any ideas that don't cost a lot?

We made pet rocks yesterday. I picked up some scrylic paint and google eyes at the Dollar Tree and let the kids pick their rocks from our landscaping. Total cost: $2.

Post your ideas, too! I'm looking for more fun stuff to keep my 8-year-old and 4-year-old creative and entertained. We still have over a month and a half of summer vacation left!

oh, I like pet rocks.

Bob and I made a robot last week I posted the pic, but I'll post it here again.

We used formula cans, foil, quite a bit of tape, googly eyes left over from other projects and construction paper.

That is awesome, Wendy! I missed it the first time you posted it. I might have to steal that idea.

We always have the basic supplies arround so crafting is pretty easy for us. I would suggest painting, foam stamps are fun they can be used with either paint or ink. Last week DS (5) decorated a t-shirt using fabric paint and some foam stamps and then did a little finger painting on it - he loves it and he had a blast. The shirt was purchased at Michaels for only $2.50 on sale. Be sure to put wax paper or something inside the shirt to keep the paint from leaking to the back of the shirt. You can also do this with the canvas bags or aprons you can buy at Michaels or WalMart.

DS loves to just play with his craft supplies - glitter glue is fun, foam shapes and stickers, some construction paper, regular stickers, crayons, markers and DS is in heaven. He is going through a phase were he loves it if I punch out shapes using my paper punches - driving me crazy about it actually - how many of those things does one child need - he is storing them in a little bucket LOL. We don't do so many actual projects as he just loves to experiment with things.
