use for next year?

I always do with my marigolds, zinnias and other flowers each year. It is something that I learned from my grandmas, aunts and mom to do.

I'm also new to this whole gardening thing....do you take the seeds from your annuals so that you can plant them next year? Is that what you are referring to? Are you supposed to freeze them? I think I had heard that about tulip bulbs.
