Fruity Lip Gloss --Made with Kool-Aid!

2 tbsp. solid shortening
1 tbsp. fruit-flavored powdered drink mix (Kool-Aid)
35 mm plastic film container

Mix shortening and drink mix together in a small microwave-safe container until smooth.
Place container in the microwave on high for 30 seconds until mixture becomes a liquid.
Pour the mixture into a plastic film container or any other type of small airtight container.
Place the fruity lip gloss mixture in the refrigerator for 20 to 30 minutes or until firm.

Im going to try it with the kool aid singles that have sugar in it and the crystal light singles and i have some country time lemonade that has sugar already added, ill let you know how they turn out.

now i just need to find containers to put it all in.

THIS INFO CAME FROM.

Some of the stuff you can get at Hobby Lobby depending on what they have in stock. The Neighborhood Co-op here in Carbondale carries the almond oil for sure and a few other things. I know the lady from the lotetree site could tell you some things on how to make it.

Thanks Connie ill have to check over there. That site says still down ill keep trying.

Well i made the kool-aid grape lip gloss and one with country time lemonade, they worked ok but felt a little greasy lmao... I wonder why. when i made the lemonade one after I melted everything i put my finger in and put some on my lips (it wasnt hot) and the sugar that was in it gave my lips a nice exfoliation treatment. After I made them I stored them in the fridge in baby food jars.

I would not recommend this for someone with chapped lips...it does not moisturize.

Here is a basic lip balm recipe to try...
I use digital scales and all that good stuff and I have not tried this recipe out to check its accuracy but give it a whirl and modify however you please. Once you get the hang of the ratio it is easy to come up with your own. If it is too hard remelt and add more oil, too soft add more beeswax (sparingly).

1/2 tsp beeswax
3/4 tsp butter of some kind (try coconut oil or other vegetable butter)
3/4 tsp cocoa butter
1 tsp oil (try olive oil or sunflower seed oil)
1 vitamin e capsule
5-10 drops peppermint or wintergreen essential oil

all ingredients can be purchased at your local natural foods store

Use a double boiler method to melt all butters/wax together... melting in microwave can be extremely dangerous as the oils can get too hot. Also, if you melt slowly and gently the beeswax will not get grainy on you.
I personally prefer lip balm tubes because you don't dip your fingers in the balm and get it all nasty, but a lot of people like the pots- both can be purchased at your local craft supply store.
I found this thread by checking my store stats.. we are offline there for the moment but feel free to check my store out at Etsy :: LoteTree :: Welcome to THE LOTE TREE
I've got a blog that no one reads too.. Tree Of Life

Thanks!
Jessie
