In my kitchen, I have dark green laminate countertops. We replaced one of them recently to fit a new cabinet, and the old one that was taken out has been sitting in the basement. Now we're finishing our basement, and I thought I could use that countertop to make a table for our new room down there., but I really want blues, not greens. So, I decided to try painting it to look like granite. It's turning out great! First I primed it, then painted it a blue/gray color, then dabbed it with sea sponges, using a tiny bit of tan, and a couple shades of gray. I've applied 4 coats of polyurethane. I'll do 2 or 3 more. I love how it's turning out - really looks like granite! If I can figure out how to post a picture, I'll put it on here. Here's where I got the idea:

Hmmm....that's very interesting. I like your's, it looks much better.

I've got the ugliest bathroom sink counter, with the sink built into it. I wonder if you can paint a sink this way too?

They make a special epoxy paint for painting sinks and tubs. I've seen it at the hardware store. My uncle used it on his 1950's pink tub. It's white now, it turned out great.
