How do you use natural things (Indian corn, pumpkins, etc) to decorate naturally? What other things do you bring in from the outdoors? What sorts of centerpieces/wall decorations do you use?

I really only decorate for Christmas and then for 'fall'...so in mid September I put up my fall wreath and I hang fall teardrop decorations from my lights on my garage and on either side of my front door. They're really pretty with gourds, mini pumpkins, fall leaves etc I get a lot of compliments on them.

Some years I do the whole cornstalk, hay bale, pumpkins, mums etc around our lamp post or mailbox.

Inside I don't really do too much...I have some 'sugared gourds' and pumpkins that I put in a big wooden bowl on our dining room table.

I don't do too much fall decorating. I usually decorate more toward holiday's than to seasons. I will, however, occasionally keep out some of my Halloween decorations if they're more seasonal feeling. But for the most part I don't change out anything until I start pulling out my Pumpkins, etc.

I do have some pine cones I sometimes sit out in a bowl on the kitchen table. That will last all season. I do also have a fall wreath but that goes away the day after Thanksgiving when I get to put up my Christmas one.

I guess I have a few fuzzy throw blankets and I can put away the lighter weight ones, but usually they're out anyway cause I use them year round.

I would like to get some more seasonal things though, so I'll be checking back for ideas!!

I have a little sign that says "boo!" which I made to hang on the front door. I also have a ceramic painted haunted house and a jack o lantern that you put a light inside and plug in. My mom made them. I'll probably put thos on the piano

I was going to make some fabric pumpkins this year but I ended up winning some at the church talent auction a few days ago. I LOVE the ones I got so I definitely won't be making any. I guess I'll put them on the table, we have a big square table.

Man, all this talk of fall! I still need to paint my living room! I better get a move on because I can't put out all of this stuff, take it down, paint, and then put it back up!

I know this may sound strange but dried Okra stalks are a really cool looking fall decoration in a vase.

I like to plant mums in the two planters by my front door.

I saw a fantastic looking topiary that a neighbor did last year. She used two thick dowels (or either thin broomsticks) drilled through a large pumpkin on the bottom and a smaller pumpkin on the top and had them in planters on either side of her front door.

I have a beautiful fall wreath that goes on the door. Then I have a wicker cornucopia that goes on the table as a centerpiece with gourds, miniature pumpkins and silk fall leaves. I have some little knickknacks I put around, too - pumpkin candle holder, wooden pumpkin, stained glass suncatcher for the window, little wicker pumpkin, and so on. I like to swap out towels and potholders for the holidays in the kitchen, if I have them. I also swap any candles to fall colors. We have some picket fence slats that were painted like little pumpkin people by the local handicap coop that I put out in the front yard. I also like to set mums and pumpkins through the yard. I'll swap any blankets, etc. to warm fall colors as well.

I will swap out my dining room centerpiece and the floral piece I have in my bay window for some that are more 'fall' oriented - leaves, sunflowers, etc. I change the wreath on my front door also.

I will put a few new throw rugs and etc into place also.

Those stay up until winter/Cmas decorations go up.
