This is an oldy but a good one- I read it years ago but still do it because it works.

Before you leave any room, take one minute to round up things and put them back where they belong. Just one minute can make a big difference and help you stay organized. Kids are great for helping with this one- you can make it a race and see who can put away the most stuff in a minute
