For Christmas I think I am going to ask dh to let me (and help me) redo my laundry room. I want to put up cabinets and take down the useless wire rack thingy. There is also a great space there for a floor to almost ceiling cabinet for extra storage.

My Dad helped me plan it out on graph paper and we realized I can fulfill TWO dreams: a floor to ceiling cabinet AND a small fullsized fridge!! I am so excited! We even measured for frontloaders since that is probably what I will get when my washer/dryer dies (they are 11 years old this year). He pointed out that if I was going to redo the floors, now would be the time as well as paint.

So, now I am thinking about flooring, but trying to keep the cost below $500 (I have a deal on the fridge already so that is nothing). Has anybody ever used the peel and stick type vinyl? That is what I am thinking of using. Any thoughts? The laundry room is the walkway (or "mudroom) between our garage and the hallway going to our kitchen. So, there is about a four foot section of wood floors between our laundry and kitchen. Right now they are the same vinyl, but I don't want to replace the kitchen's vinyl yet. I was thinking of putting in the peel and stick in a very neutral color so it would go with anything.

Any thoughts? Thanks!

I would recommend tile over vinyl. We re-did a kitchen with vinyl and when we went to put the appliances back in, well there were some tears and gouges.

It sounds like a small space where the tile wouldn't be that much and you could definitely tile yourself. I would put tile underneath your appliances, but it's probably not necessary for your cabinet.

With the front loaders, if you use them side-by-side, I highly recommend getting the storage drawer for underneath them. It brings the washer and dryer up higher and there is not so much bending. You won't think you want or need the storage, but your back will be so happy with you!

Have fun! I love it when a project comes together.

I Would Use Laminate. Youcan Get It As Little As .39 A Square Foot. It Looks Like A Wood Floor And Is Easy To Put Down. Peel And Stick Tends To Seperate And Get Dull.
