What is your best method to the dog hair madness? As the weather gets warmer then my two dogs will begin shedding like crazy!! I just hate it!
I am embarrassed to have anyone to my house if I don't first vacuum and dust all the dog hair.

I have to keep a blanket over my couch because it is impossible to keep the dogs off of it.

I have "tumble weed" in the corners of my rooms.

How do you deal with it yourself?

We started giving our dog fish oil - it actually seems to work! I had some I had bought with a coupon. One of the stores here is doing BOGO for their vitamins and supplements, so I'm going to get her more.

I brush her about once a week outside, so it can blow away out there. I try to gather the big clumps, but the rest the birds can use.

Just vacuum and use the lint roller a lot!

Oh, we have a fat Yellow Lab. She gets one fish oil tab 2x a day - I just drop it in her food dish with her kibble and she eats it.

Swiffer...and vacuum. Every day. A rubber glove (like the kind used for washing dishes) works great to get fur off upholstery, seats in the car etc

I dry mop and vacuum everyday. It keeps the dust from getting on everything else.

Our dogs don't get on the couch (they're too big!), but I vacuum and sweep every day to keep up with it. I also shake out the rugs outside once a week and brush the dogs every day - outside when possible. My dogs also like to be vacuumed .

HTH?!

I vacuum my dog when it gets bad, but she really doesn't like it! Other then that I do the same as others, vacuum, swiffer/sweep, and comb (fine hair) outside. The hair seems to stick to things though so I will have to try that rubber glove trick!

LOL I totally have the same problem with Mosby's hair being everywhere! It's insane. I keep stuff on the couch to prevent him from getting on it and I have to keep all of the bedroom doors closed or he will sleep on the beds. I have to vacuum a lot and brush him with a good brush all the time. I switched him to a grain-free food (Taste of the Wild) about 2 months ago because I heard that will help reduce shedding. I think it's working a little but I could also just be overly hopeful Luckily he likes it a lot! If I really start to see an improvement on the shedding aspect I will let you know. ...I think if someone came up with a magic solution to pets' shedding, they would make a fortune!

We have a Golden Retriever so we have lots of dog hair too. I also can't stand it. I vacuum every day, I vacuum the couch and loveseat every day too as I know she is on them when we leave the house! I have an attachment for the vacuum so I can vacuum the hard surfaces also.

We used to have an Akita and they have a double coat and a couple times a year they shed the underneath coat. Talk about clumps of dog hair all over the place! My MIL had taken her to Petsmart once for a bath and they did some sort of shedding treatment on her and it really worked. I may have to do that with our Golden this summer, if I can remember what it was called.

I brush mine outside as much as I can remember to.
Also I try to shampoo my carpets regularly. I take a spray
bottle with a mix of about 25% fabric softener and
75% water and spray the carpet down and let it sit
about 15 minutes before I shampoo them. It seems
to release the hair more easily.

I have a large, long haired dog, too. I try to keep him brushed and trimmed. We call those puffs of hair that collect in the corners, "dogbunnies". I just vacuum them up. He's not allowed on the furniture.

The cat does not understand this idea. To get rid of cat hair on upholstery, I use a plain old rubber glove. Works much better than the pet roller thingy I used to buy.
