When we were house hunting, I was 8 months pregnant with our second. We saw the ad in the paper, this house was for sale by owner. So we called our realtor to find out about the place. When we saw it, we loved it instantly. It was cute! It was perfect, a little white ranch, with black shutters. The inside needed a ton of updating, but we were really fine with all that because the price was right and it was the only place we could find that was in move in condition for what we could afford.

I love the neighborhood, the cozyness of the house, and the fact that we have a corner lot. It also came with a cute little garden shed for our lawnmower. We were just so excited to own our first house, after being in an apt for years that everything excited us. LOL

Our large back yard and the fact that my daughter, when we drove in, called it, "The Big Bird Yellow House". It is yellow and probably will always stay that way -- though I do hope to tone down its bright color in the future. Though, now I think of it, I've grown accustomed to its bright color!

I really wanted a cul-de-sac, DH just had to have a 3 car garage, and we both wanted the neighborhood. When we walked in, I just fell in love with the floor plan.

We bought the land first. We loved the quiet area, then when looking at plans to build. I loved the wrap around porch and the open floor plan. I also loved that it was a two story i had always lived in ranchers.

We were lucky enough to choose where we wanted to build our house. So we were attracted to the area and the land....and we were downsizing, so we built something that wasn't huge. We moved out to the country and away from all the McMansions that were going up all over. We just built a simple colonial with a porch and then I put in the kitchen I wanted and made tweaks here and there, so it would have things we wanted.

I was 8 months preg. as well. We found out about this house from family when the owner past away. Her daughter wanted to sell it and get back to Chicago. We bought it for $20,000 less than what it appraises at. We can walk to the park, farmer's market, and the school. It's a relatively quiet street with low crime as well.
