Frugal Halloween Costumes: Flower
I made a flower costume by purchasing a bunch of artificial flowers at Walmart for $3. I cut them apart and hot-glued the flowers to a hat, and the leaves to the collar of a green sweat suit. -- Kim from MN
The cutest Halloween costume I ever made was a flower for my 3 year old. I just took a plastic flower pot (Walmart/Big Lots) that was big enough for my child to wear around her waist. My husband cut the bottom out and attached suspender type strings to it so she could "wear" it. I took a cheap hooded sweatshirt and hot glued huge pieces of pink fabric to the hood to look like petals. Before I attached the petals I hot glued wire around the edges so they would stand straight up. I attached green felt pieces for leaves on her sleeves and she wore green tights. I even painted a few bees on the petals. -- Kara from PA
ANNE GEDDES-INSPIRED HYDRANGEA
I have won several costume contests with things that didn't seem that hard to me. When my daughter was three months old, I made her an Anne Geddes Hydrangea for under $7. I took an old lavender footed sleeper that I had on hand, added a little green stem up the tummy with a couple of leaves that I cut off of some silk flowers. For her hat, I made a bonnet, but I could easily have purchased a cheap one or used one I had. I simply bought a couple of fake Hydrangea blossoms at Wal-mart and cut them up and hot-glued them to the bonnet. EASY!!

DAISY
One Halloween my daughter couldn't make up her mind about what to be, until we came down to the last minute. So I took some posterboard and cut out a simple daisy shape, about twice the size of her head, and cut out a hole for her face. I glued on bright fabric scraps to each side and glued on bias tape to the outer and inner edges. I stapled extra bias tape to each side near her face so she could tie it around her head. She wore black, and she was the cutest little flower around! It took about 15 minutes, too! -- Angela from CA
