I made a soda can costume for my toddler a few years ago. I bought a large embroidery hoop, and separated the two circles to act as top and bottom, and sprayed them with silver paint. Then I decorated a large rectangle of fabric as a pop can and glued the top and bottom of the rectangle around the inside of the hoops. I cut out a silver circle for the top of the can, made a neck hole, and glued the edges of the circle inside the top hoop. I'm sure there was a sturdier way to make it, but it's held up for us, and been a hit for two years running.
